TIME, PLACE AND SYMBOL

TIME, PLACE AND SYMBOL  RAIC2000IDEAS COMPETITION

the armature allows programmed performance or gallery space, open to the elements or in sealed, suspended rooms, for small artifacts or very large objects.   the system is conceptually infinite.  it can expand east west and continually engage appropriate site conditions.  the result is an animated urban experience made up of scenographic events, either from the viewpoint of a visiting dignitary traveling the ceremonial route, or a curious meandering tourist.  background and foreground are continually shifting, framing views of the city and oneself, creating moments of repose and reflection, space for extravaganza and theatrical pathos.  the gaps of time from event to event, exhibition to exhibition, record a multiplicity of cultural threads that represent an on-going evolution.
