an intense site condition on the edge of downtown brantford ontario, allowing the larger program elements to be sited below the upper ‘city’ grade allows the public component of the building to exist as a powerful ‘bar’, along the street. a poetic deconstructionof the image of the ‘historic’ facades acts a palimpsest for the rhythms and articulation of the slatted and articulated façade. manipulation of the program allows a pathway to emerge, connecting the city and the larger scale neighborhoods below.
